The Italian Pavilion

Sydney has once again taken centre stage in the world of food and beverage, hosting the 41st edition of Fine Food Australia at the International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The fair, recognised as Australasia’s premier food industry showcase, drew more than 900 exhibitors and around 25,000 visitors, underlining its status as a global hub for innovation and culinary trends.

Italy emerged as a standout presence with a striking 306-square-metre Italian Pavilion, organised by ICE – the Italian Trade Agency in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy in Canberra and the Consulate General of Italy in Sydney. The pavilion featured 30 Italian companies, highlighting the excellence of Made in Italy across food and beverage sectors. The opening was led by Consul General Gianluca Rubagotti and ICE Sydney Director Simona Bernardini, whose efforts to promote Italian products were widely praised.

Adding flavour to the showcase was celebrity chef Luca Ciano, star of Luca’s Key Ingredient on Network 10, who wowed audiences with his session “From Milan to Bondi: Chef Luca Ciano’s Modern Italian Masterpiece.” His live demonstration captured both the tradition and modern creativity of Italian cuisine.

Italy is today Australia’s fifth-largest agri-food supplier and the leading European exporter, with a 5.4% market share—a figure that reflects not only consumer demand but also the tireless promotion of Italian excellence abroad.
