Nominations for NSW Marco Polo Italian Language & Culture Award now open

Nominations for the 2021 Marco Polo Award for Excellence in Italian Language and Culture are now open, with the closing date set for 30 November 2021 at 5pm.

The Award is established by Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney to support the quality of teaching and learning of Italian across schools in NSW.

The main purpose of the Award is to reward and encourage further academic proficiency and study of Italian language and culture in NSW.

Nominations are made by 30 November at 5pm of each calendar year by teachers in public, Catholic, Independent or other recognised community language schools across NSW.

Nominations are to be received via email to learning@cnansw.org.au using the 2021 Nomination Form from: shorturl.at/lrHU7.

Up to 3 students can be nominated from each school.

The Rules of the Award are as follows:

1. The Award shall be known as The Marco Polo Award for Excellence in Italian Language and Culture in NSW Schools.

2. One Award to the value of $250 may be made annually.

3. Up to Five other non-monetary Awards may be made annually.

4. Commendatory non-monetary Awards may be made annually.

5. The Award may be made annually to any student from Year 6 to Year 12 who has studied Italian in NSW schools (public, catholic, independent or other recognised community language school) in the year the award is conferred and are considered to have made the most progress in learning or demonstrated a level of excellence in Italian.

6. Up to 3 students can be nominated from each school.

7. The Award is granted by the Board of Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney, in consultation with any teaching staff or educators selected to assess the merits of each application received.

8. The Board of Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney is not bound to make an Award in a particular year if there is no candidate of sufficient merit.9. The Award may not be shared.

10. The Board of Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney may amend or vary these regulations provided that there is no departure from the main purpose of the Award.For further information, please email learning@cnansw.org.au.

In 2020, Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney received over 50 nominations for the award. Please share this initiative with your colleagues and networks and seek nominations for your students who are deserving of recognition.
