On Monday, 2nd June, in celebration of Italian Republic Day, Year 8 students from All Saints Catholic College, Liverpool, who are studying Italian, had the opportunity to take part in a special cultural immersion day at the iconic Club Marconi.
A long-standing hub for the Italian community for over 60 years, Club Marconi has been a place where Italians come together to honour their heritage, traditions, and community spirit—making it the perfect venue for this meaningful occasion.
Students were immersed in a full day of traditional Italian activities designed to bring the language and culture to life. Rotating through various stations, they participated in soccer, bocce, tombola, trivia, and a live pizza-making demonstration.
Each activity was introduced with a brief explanation of its cultural significance and Italian origins, offering valuable insights into Italy’s rich heritage.
To top off the experience, students enjoyed a delicious Italian lunch provided by Club Marconi, featuring traditional pizza, pasta, and creamy gelato—a sweet ending to a perfect day.
The event was a tremendous success, giving students an authentic taste of Italian culture beyond the classroom.
A heartfelt thank you goes to the CEO, board members, and all the staff at Club Marconi for their warm hospitality and for hosting such a memorable event.
Special thanks also to the wonderful Ladies Auxiliaries and Italian volunteers—many of whom are long-time members of the community—who generously shared their time and stories, adding a unique touch of authenticity and warmth to the celebration.
Lastly, a big shout-out to the dedicated Italian teachers and school staff who facilitated the day’s activities.
This cultural celebration not only deepened students’ appreciation of Italian traditions but also strengthened their connection to the language they are learning. With such positive feedback from everyone involved, the school community is already looking forward to celebrating Italian Republic Day again next year. Viva l’Italia!
