Police are investigating two separate serious incidents in Victoria and New South Wales. In Bacchus Marsh, a woman has been found dead inside a home and a 75-year-old man has been arrested. In Sydney, a 32-year-old man has been charged over an alleged armed home invasion in Baulkham Hills.
Woman found dead in Bacchus Marsh home
Emergency services were called to a property on Connor Street, Bacchus Marsh, about 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne, at around 3.30am on Wednesday.
Police found the body of a woman inside the home. She has not yet been formally identified.
A 75-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
Victoria Police believe the man and woman were known to each other.
The man was later taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and remains under police guard.
He has not been charged.
Police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman’s death.
Detectives from the Homicide Squad are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Man charged over alleged Sydney home invasion
In a separate case, NSW Police have charged a 32-year-old man over an alleged home invasion at Baulkham Hills earlier this month.
Police were called to a property on Sarah Crescent at about 1.30am on August 3 after two men allegedly broke into the home.
The pair are accused of threatening the residents and demanding cash before fleeing.
Police allege they were armed with an electronic stun device and a metal pole.
The residents were not physically injured but were left distressed.
Arrest at North Bondi
Detectives established Strike Force Lanrik to investigate the incident.
At about 5.30am on Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at a unit on Brighton Boulevard, North Bondi, where they arrested the 32-year-old man.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and committing a serious indictable offence while armed with a weapon.
He was refused bail and is expected to appear before court.
The allegations have not been proven.
Investigations are continuing.
