Police are investigating a shooting in Western Sydney after a young man was found seriously wounded on Mimosa Road
A teenager is fighting for life after being shot in the chest in Greenacre, in Western Sydney.
NSW Police said emergency services were called to Mimosa Road near Highview Avenue shortly after 9pm on Thursday following reports that a young man had been shot.
The victim is believed to be in his late teens.
Teen treated at the scene
The young man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest and was reported to be in a critical condition.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.
No updated details about his condition have yet been released.
Crime scene established
Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
At this stage, authorities have not released details about a possible motive, the number of people involved or whether any arrests have been made.
Detectives are continuing inquiries and are appealing for information from members of the public.
