Italian music icon and international pop-folk singer-songwriter Roby Santini is the headline act at the inaugural Calcio, Cibo e Canzone festival to be held at Newmarket’s Brisbane City Football Club on Saturday 4 November.
Representatives from both Com.It.Es. QLD + NT and Brisbane City Football Club are enthusiastic about uniting the community through this event. Event committee member Joe D’Ercole said organising events like the Calcio, Cibo e Canzone festival enabled the broader community to enjoy iconic Italian activities such as its delicious food, music and soccer while also promoting unity and community spirit.
“Com.It.Es. QLD + NT and Brisbane City Football have come together to undertake this event in order to build a strong, vibrant and harmonious community and this festival is a great opportunity for people to come and enjoy the very best of Italy in one central location.
“Brisbane City Football Club is the home to some iconic Italian events and festivals over many years and we are really excited with the line up of activities we have for the day which includes a soccer tournament featuring players with origins from north, south and central Italy along with a female team.
“There’s also food carts including, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers, Gerbinos Pasticceria, Lorenzo’s Risotto as well as a gelati truck and a coffee stall and Brisbane Football Club’s famous pizzas, ribs and Italian sausage panini,” Joe said.
As the day cools down, the entertainment promises to heat up with six piece band Zumpa live on stage followed by internationally acclaimed Italian performer Roby Santini live on stage before 7pm. “Roby is a personal friend who I have known for many decades from my time living in Abruzzi, he’s an incredible performer and I guarantee if you have not seen him live then this will be a must-see music event,” Joe added. Roby said he was looking forward to performing in Brisbane where he will play songs from his latest album Italiani Nel Mondo as well as many iconic Italian songs.
“My latest album features 10 iconic Italian songs which have been reinterpreted in a totally modern version which pays homage to the incredible role Italian migrants have made across the globe. I’ve got lots of friends and fans in Australia and I am counting down the days until I get to play in front of a big crowd of people who are passionate about all things Italian in Brisbane,” Roby said.
Representatives from both Com.It.Es. QLD + NT and Brisbane City Football Club are enthusiastic about uniting the community through the spirit of sportsmanship. Sports have a unique way of bringing people together fostering camaraderie and creating a sense of belonging among diverse groups of individuals.
Organising events like the Calcio, Cibo e Canzone festival where people can enjoy sports, delicious food and live music, these organisations not only celebrate Italian culture but also promote unity and community spirit. By fostering an environment where people from different backgrounds can come together, celebrate their shared love for sports, music and food, these initiatives contribute significantly to building a strong, vibrant and harmonious community.
