How it feels doing it tough

Luciano (Lou) Noiosi has raised over $15,000 committing to a night sleeping rough in the Sydney CBD as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Lou set base with his sleeping bag, a cup of soup and some biscuits a few steps away from the iconic Overseas Passenger Terminal. The same location where recently the Sydney Opera House was lit with the Italian ‘Tricolore’.

Lou sent a big message to the powerful.

“This is my second year doing the CEO Sleepout. I wished once again to experience homeless and hear the stories of so many less fortunate who are out there,” said Lou.

Last year, Lou raised $25,000 while spending a night in the cold in his backyard.”It is interesting who you meet out here, really. I met a number of women who were victims of domestic violence. Particularly harsh and moving stories. Many try to hang onto a relationship especially because of the children but continue to suffer violence and get beaten up.

When this happens, they have no other options, they leave their homes and are out here,” said Lou.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. “Men who lost everything and were kicked out of their homes from their spouses or chose to get out due to complications in family relationships now live on the streets and are really struggling,” said Lou.

Through the CEO Sleepout, Vinnies is raising money to provide people experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness with vital access to food and accommodation. This year, the money raised by Lou Noiosi helped to provide 48 individual support programs, 127 beds and 509 meals.
