It The endlessly talented multidisciplinary creative, Isabella Conti-Morato announces film festival screenings of her long awaited film short, ‘Looking For Haberfield’.
The lauded short-film which was filmed in 2023 in various locations around Sydney, is a relatable coming of age story of an Italian Australian intergenerational family in Haberfield. The title purposely references the youth novel, ‘Looking for Alibrandi’, as it is inspired by the work. Coincidently, Alibrandi is getting a cinema re-release at the same time.
Isabella’s artistic vision from her experience in film-making, marketing, comedy, writing, acting and painting, bleeds through some beautifully rendered sequences that are sure to capture emotions amongst audiences and critics alike.
She describes the film as a “short dramedy that explores the messy capriciousness of young adulthood.
The film touches on heartbreak, cross-cultural ambivalence and caring for a deteriorating family member.”Created by Isabella, Max Pinnegar and highly talented cast and crew, the producers were pleased to announce that the film had been picked up by ‘Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival, Volume 5 (2025) for new/upcoming filmmakers’, Officially Selected/Nominated for the Young Australian Film Festival (2025) which will premiere the film nationally in Melbourne in September 2025 and Short-listed for Byron Bay International Film Festival (2025).
