After a week of relentless rain and overcast skies, motoring enthusiasts finally had a chance to enjoy clear conditions during the Marconi Automobile Club’s (MAC) latest outing. On Sunday, 24 August 2025, members gathered at Club Marconi before setting off on the club’s monthly drive to the scenic Camden Valley Inn.
The event, dubbed the “Brunch Run,” marked a welcome return to the road for members eager to reconnect with their passion for classic and performance vehicles. “After so much rain, it’s wonderful to finally be out and take the Shelby Cobra for a drive in good weather,” said MAC member Sydney Borg, capturing the excitement shared by fellow participants.
The fine weather created the perfect backdrop for camaraderie and socialising. Many members, who had missed recent outings due to the poor conditions, relished the opportunity to catch up and showcase their vehicles. For some newcomers, the Brunch Run was their first official experience with the club, providing an introduction to MAC’s vibrant community of motoring enthusiasts.
For foundation member Ennio Alfonsi, the event offered a chance to share the experience with friends and celebrate the club’s enduring spirit. “I was so happy to bring along friends and introduce them to what has now become a close family,” Alfonsi said. His sentiments echoed the atmosphere of the day, where friendships and shared enthusiasm for motoring were at the forefront.
The Marconi Automobile Club has continued to grow steadily, attracting new members at each event. Membership is open to all who share a passion for cars, and prospective participants can join through Club Marconi’s reception. The $55 annual fee includes an official MAC polo shirt, a symbol of membership and club pride.
The Brunch Run also highlighted the club’s commitment to providing engaging and accessible events for its members. By combining scenic drives with opportunities for social interaction, MAC has built a community that values both motoring and friendship. Cars ranging from classic models to high-performance vehicles were on display, offering attendees a chance to admire and discuss a wide variety of automobiles.
Looking ahead, the Marconi Automobile Club is preparing for its next scheduled outing, the “Lunch Run,” on Sunday, 14 September 2025. Participants will depart Club Marconi at 11.30 am, heading towards CSI Marconi in Schofields. As always, the event promises an enjoyable drive, the opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, and the chance to celebrate the shared passion that drives the club’s growing community.
For many, the Brunch Run was more than just a scenic drive; it was a celebration of the resilience and enduring enthusiasm of the MAC community. After a week of wet weather, members left the day with renewed energy, camaraderie, and anticipation for the next gathering — a reminder that even in a world full of unpredictable weather, the love of motoring remains constant.
