Members’ AGM elect new CNA Board for 2022

On 20 December 2021, CNA Multicultural Services Inc. held its AGM at Centro Italia in Bossley Park. Members met to discuss the many good works done in the past year and the challenges on the road ahead as well as carry out the legal requirements and the demands of the organisation’s constitution.

A welcome was given by Giovanni Testa, outgoing President, thanking all members and volunteers for their ongoing support during the pandemic. Words of acknowledgement were also extended to Federal, State and Local Governments for their contributions toward specific projects which have made a significant impact in the lives of many in the community. Divisional reports were also tabled for Patronato Epasa-Itaco, Care Services, Sportello Italia and Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney.

Members also elected the new Board for 2022. The Returning Officer declared elected unopposed the following members: President: Giovanni Testa; Vice President: Maria Stella Vescio; Treasurer: Bruno Lopreiato; Secretary: Stella Maimone; Members: Giuseppina Auteri, Nicola Speciale and Maria Tripodi. 

The Members, with the assent of the Board, approved the nominations of three individuals as Life Members of the Association, for exceptional services rendered to the organisation over time.

The three Life Members are:

  1. Maria Nesci Sposari, first Treasurer and Foundation Member of the CNA, “for her empathy, resilience and care in response to the needs of the least and of the community, in service during hardship and for striving to always communicate a sense of hope.”
  1. Giuseppina Cavallaro, outgoing Vice President and long-standing supporter of CNA, “for her commitment to the welfare of the community, especially her innovative thinking, outstanding leadership and persistent compassion.”
  1. Franco Baldi, Chief Editor of Allora!, “for his constant encouragement, creative and courageous acts of journalism that seek out the truth and give new insight and expansion to the association’s mission and projects.”
