The “Biblioteca Italia” founded in Beirut

The Ambassador of Italy to Lebanon, Nicoletta Bombardiere, together with the director of the Literature and Translation Center, Rabih Machaalany, inaugurated the Italian Library, a gift from the Italian Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the Center for Languages ​​and Translation in Beirut.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the dean of the Faculty of Letters and Humanities at the UL, Ahmad Rahab, of the director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Lebanon, Monica Zecca , of the lecturer at the Lebanese University, Caterina Carlini, and a wide representation of students of the Italian language.

The Italian Library is a prestigious award that this year the Italian Ministry of Culture has decided to assign to the Center for Languages ​​and Translation as a prominent institution in the field of spreading Italian. There are about 550 volumes on various themes, from literature to history and the various arts, from geography and landscape to archeology, gastronomy and cinema, also including 34 DVDs of Italian cinema masterpieces. A real journey into the whole of Italian culture, through the works of the greatest classical and contemporary Italian authors.

The Italian Cultural Institute wanted to further enhance the donation by equipping the library with shelves suitable for the conservation and consultation of the volumes currently existing and future acquisitions, in order to create an organic and easily accessible Italian section of the CLT Library.
