The world celebrates Italian Design Day 2021

The 2021 edition of the festival dedicated to the Italian design and the enhancement of its prodigies in the world.

8 July is the day chosen for the fifth edition of the Italian Design Day, the initiative through which the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation aims to foster abroad our design recognising its value as one of the Made in Italy signatures and as a strategic driving force for our export.

As an emblematic format of our Integrated Promotion strategy, the IDD was launched in 2017 in synergy with the Ministry of Culture, ICE Agency, La Triennale di Milano Foundation, Association for Industrial Design, ADI Foundation – Collezione Compasso d’Oro, FederlegnoArredo, Salone del Mobile.Milano and Altagamma Foundation.

Each year, a panel of architects, designer, entrepreneurs, and design critics take part, as leading personalities, to a rich programme of promotional events organized by the network of Embassies, Consular Offices, and Italian Cultural Institutes with the purpose of projecting the Italian expertise and the manufacturing system stemming from it across the world.

This year, with the chosen theme  – ‘Project and materials: new challenges for the sustainable recovery of the Made in Italy‘ – we long to underline the unique ability of our design to renew itself, its productive processes and the qualitative research upon raw materials under the banner of the two crucial assets for the Italian economic recovery: circular economy and sustainability.

The worth of design as a cultural engine and driver of change in the economic, environmental and social fields represents the leitmotif linking the 2021 theme with the project behind the festival.

Starting from July 8, it is possible to get to know the 2021 Italian Design Day key players trough the video clips released on the dedicated social accounts  – YouTube and Instagram – and on the website www.italiandesignday.it where a digital version of the event catalogue is available.
