Canberra Here We Come

This edition of Allora! is being read as members of the Editorial Team find themselves in Canberra, Australia’s Capital City, with the intent to establish a National Office for our growing and popular Italophile media outlet.

Since January 2021, Allora! has been widely available in the Australian Capital Territory, with all copies delivered through news agencies being sold and key Italian-Australian stakeholders continuing to support our publication by means of individual and group subscriptions as well as complimentary copies being sent to local Italian institutions.

“We intend to establish a National Office, a federal head office in Canberra to bring about innovation and collaboration, in a way that best helps us to effectively serve all Italophiles across Australia, now and into the future,” said Franco Baldi, Chief Editor of Allora!

The move comes as international developments regarding media for Italians abroad evolve to meet contemporary challenges and outlets actively seek to include broader micro-regions in their target readership. Following Canberra, Allora! will conduct other feasibility studies for offices in the country’s other state capitals.

“Italian newspapers abroad are being called to operate for a dual purpose. On one side to provide local news for local communities, but to also look out for collaborative opportunities across borders, engage with more readers and appeal to people on the move,” said Franco.

A National Office will become the new flagship base to better deal with the demands of the readership Australia-wide, while also increasing our service and coverage for the Italian community in Canberra and the Australian Capital Territory.

“With the prospective launch of a National Office, Allora! effectively opens up to the entire region. By the end of this year, we also intend to visit New Zealand to strengthen our ties with the local Italian community there and consider the possibility of more news articles which will be of relevance to Italians across Oceania”, said Franco Baldi.
