An amazing ‘Affair with Italy!’

Francesca Brescia, Grant Galea and Daniel Tambasco performed with the backing of a full live band in the auditorium of Ryde Eastwood Leagues club on Saturday night in what can only be describes as a ‘spectacular’! Francesca Brescia is an absolute institution in the Italo-Australian music scene having entertained audiences for many years.

The Italian Diva, as she is known, could well be Australia’s premier lounge singer with her dulcet tones, glamorous costumes and hilarious interactions with the audience. Brescia had audiences enthralled, singing in both Italian and English including two by the much loved Connie Francis. Also starring in the show is Ace Award winner Daniel Tambasco whose “Crossover Tenor” style had the audience literally whooping with excitement.

Daniel performed classics such as ‘La donna è mobile’, (that Daniel cheekily attributed to a thousand pasta sauce commercials), ‘O sole mio’ and ‘O surdato ‘nnammurato Audience members were audibly calling for more as Daniel left the stage as a testament to his breathtaking abilities. Special guest artist and international comedian Grant Galea featured in the second half of the evening. Galea has taken the world by storm with his unique brand of comedy and his sensational singing.

Galea’s impressions of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra & Bobby Darin amongst others had the audience aghast. Galea’s impressive repertoire as a straight singer, comedian and impressionist earned a standing ovation from a visibly excited audience.

The finale rewarded the audience’s enthusiasm for each and every performer, bringing them all together for a final song and then made their way down to the auditorium to meet a slew of new fans after the show.

This was a truly unmissable experience that took you to Italy, Vegas and the moon, never allowing your feet to touch the ground. Funny, romantic, joyous what can one say but thank the wonderful artists who gave us an amazing ‘Italian Affair’!
