On Memorial Day, the The White House released an official social media statement honoring American service members who lost their lives in war.
In the post shared by the White House official account, the administration wrote:
“Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that freedom is never free. Today, we honor the brave American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.”
The message continued by remembering fallen soldiers, their families, and the so-called “Gold Star Families” — relatives of military personnel who died while serving the country.
“We remember our fallen warriors, pray for their loved ones and Gold Star Families, and give thanks for those who gave everything.”
The statement concluded with the traditional message:
“God Bless America.”
Memorial Day is observed every year across the United States to honor members of the armed forces who died in military service. Ceremonies, parades, and commemorative events are held nationwide, including tributes at military cemeteries and memorial sites.
This year’s message comes at a time of heightened international tensions and ongoing conflicts around the world, giving additional weight to the tribute paid to American military sacrifice.
