The US president says the agreement will bring Russian diesel to American and global markets, with Washington temporarily authorising related transactions.
Donald Trump has announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin for Russia to supply diesel to the United States and global markets, according to Adnkronos.
Trump said deliveries would include more than 300,000 tonnes immediately, another 500,000 tonnes in November and one million tonnes shortly afterwards. A further three million tonnes would follow, depending on Russian refinery capacity.
The report says the US Treasury has authorised transactions involving the sale, delivery, unloading and import of Russian-origin diesel until 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on April 7, 2027.
Trump claimed the agreement would sharply reduce diesel prices, particularly benefiting farmers, ranchers and truck drivers.
The announcement comes as US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner meet Ukrainian negotiators in Miami amid efforts to restart talks on ending the war.
