Canberra is set to come alive from 6–8 February as the 28th National Multicultural Festival returns to the city’s CBD and Glebe Park. Celebrating the diversity of Australia, the festival promises a vibrant program of food, music, dance, workshops, and performances that showcase cultures from around the world.
Food lovers will be spoiled with over 260 stalls offering global flavours. From Persian charcoal skewers and Greek souvlakia to Mongolian Khorkhog and Japanese taiyaki ice cream, visitors can enjoy authentic tastes while learning the stories behind the dishes. Sweet treats and street eats from Jamaica, America, and Europe will add to the culinary adventure.
The festival parade on Saturday 7 February from 4 pm to 5:30 pm is a highlight not to miss. Streets will be filled with colourful costumes, lively music, and dance performances representing communities from around the globe. Adding to the excitement, this year’s parade will feature a spectacular Italian staff and flag-throwers show, a traditional display of skill, rhythm, and precision that brings a touch of Renaissance flair to the festival.
Music and dance performances will run throughout the weekend, featuring headline acts like Troy Cassar-Daley and L-FRESH The LION. Other performances include Latin dancing, belly dancing, dragon dances, folk performances, and Rio Samba. For hands-on cultural experiences, workshops in crafts, storytelling, dance, and cooking will run all weekend, offering interactive opportunities for all ages.
With public transport, shuttle buses, and park-and-ride options available, planning your visit is easy. Road closures and travel impacts are in place, so check local updates before arriving.
The 2026 National Multicultural Festival is more than an event; it’s a celebration of unity, culture, and community. Whether enjoying food, watching performances, or joining workshops, visitors will leave with unforgettable memories of Canberra’s diverse cultural landscape.
