Solarino Club celebrates Italian Carnevale

by Tom Padula

The Solarino Social Club hosted another memorable Dinner Dance on Saturday, celebrating the vibrant theme of Carnevale. Many guests embraced the spirit of the evening by attending in full costume, adding color and excitement to the festivities.

The Committee organized a parade of costumed guests, and winners were chosen to the delight of all attendees. The atmosphere in the hall was electric, and I captured numerous photos and videos to commemorate the event.

President Santo Gervasi invited me to say a few words during the evening. I took the opportunity to thank him and the Committee members for their dedication. Speaking in both English and Italian, I highlighted the significance of the Carnevale theme and its role in celebrating Italian culture.

The Solarino Social Club in Melbourne continues to attract guests from across the Australian community. Events like this not only promote Sicilian and Italian culture but also encourage adults to learn and enjoy the Italian language, as well as to sing and appreciate Italy’s rich musical repertoire.

I would like to thank all attendees for their friendly and supportive approach to my photography and videography. Capturing the results of the volunteers’, staff, and entertainers’ efforts preserves the memories of our social interactions and highlights the multicultural spirit of our community. Such gatherings reflect the democratic and inclusive values of Australian society, welcoming all into our extended “Australian family.”

Musical entertainment for the evening was provided by singer Joe Mandica, vocalist Stephanie, and a guest drummer. Their lively performance had everyone dancing throughout the night. The event’s entertainment was first-class, and the joy of participation was evident among all present.

The venue was fully booked, leaving no room for additional guests. For those who missed out, the Solarino Social Club Committee apologizes and encourages early booking for future events.
