Accornero Heads to HYROX Worlds

Veteran training partners Loretta Accornero and Marina Enders have turned decades of friendship and discipline into championship success, claiming first place in their age group at the HYROX Asia-Pacific Championships in Brisbane and securing qualification for the 2026 HYROX World Championships in Stockholm, Sweden.

Accornero, who also serves as a committee member of the Piemonteis Association of Brisbane, competed in the doubles division alongside Enders and delivered a standout performance against some of the region’s strongest endurance athletes. The pair crossed the finish line in an impressive 1:25:38, earning the top podium position and a coveted place on the world stage next year.

For Accornero, the achievement represents far more than a race result. In a social media post following the event, she reflected on the journey she and Enders have shared over more than three decades of training together.

“Thirty-plus years of training and friendship buddies,” she wrote. “Thanks Marina, couldn’t have done it without you.”

The HYROX format, known for combining functional fitness challenges with endurance running, has rapidly grown into one of the world’s most demanding competitive fitness events. Athletes are tested through a gruelling series of workouts including rowing, sled pushes, burpee broad jumps and wall balls, all interspersed with repeated one-kilometre runs.

Friends, supporters and members of the Brisbane Italian community have since flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising the pair’s determination, resilience and teamwork.

Accornero’s success has also inspired members of the wider community, many describing her achievement as a testament to dedication, consistency and the power of long-term commitment to health and fitness.

With qualification now secured, Accornero and Enders will now turn their focus toward Stockholm, where they will represent the Asia-Pacific region at the HYROX World Championships in 2026, with renewed focus, strength and determination ahead.
