On Monday 11 December, the K-3 Italian class at Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney, celebrated Natale with an Annual Christmas Concert. The festive night allowed all students to showcase their talents, storytelling and performances that warmed the hearts of the audience. In the past term, the class has been keeping things festive with the topic of ‘Natale.’
Students learnt about the Italian Christmas Witch ‘La Befana,’ Babbo Natale and all the traditions of celebrating Christmas in Italy. Behind the organisation of the concert was the young and energetic Italian teacher Emma Giudice. “The Christmas Concert was an ultimate representation of all the hard work and dedication that the children have applied to their Italian studies this term,” Emma said.
The concert began with the class of 16 students singing ‘Din Don Dan’ that set the scene for energetic and charismatic performances to follow. These included a role play of the story of the Italian Christmas Witch, ‘La Befana,’ an angelic performance with singing and dancing of ‘Astro del Ciel’ and reading aloud Christmas letters to ‘Babbo Natale.’
The concert ended with the class singing ‘Auguri di Buon Natale’ to all friends and family in the audience. “After a successful concert, families and friends were invited to socialise amongst coffee and refreshments and reflect on the year that has been. This is a very important part of creating a familiar and loving atmosphere for us at Marco Polo. We look forward to another successful year in 2024,” highlighted Emma.
Behind the scenes, others assisted Emma in preparing for the concert. “I also would like to extend a special thank you to Giovanni, Maria Grazia, Stella and Marco for all their support and help in allowing the K-3 class to host a special night like this. I am very proud of my students for all their hard work and progress this year.” Marco Polo – The Italian School of Sydney wishes the community Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo. Classes will resume in the week starting 5 February 2024.
The school will also host an Open Day on Saturday, 20 January 2024, from 10 am to 2 pm with an info session, the chance to speak 1:1 with teachers, free BBQ, entertainment, cool giveaways and much more!
