Police are appealing for public assistance after a woman found dead near Mackay Harbour North Wall in Queensland was identified as 31-year-old Payge Leembruggen.
Emergency services were called shortly after 8am on Tuesday, September 15, when a member of the public discovered her body near the beach.
Detectives and police officers attended the Mackay Harbour area, with marked and unmarked vehicles at the scene. The beach was temporarily closed to the public while investigators carried out inquiries. Officers also used buggies to move along the shoreline.
North Wall Beach reopened on Wednesday, although police remained at the scene. Investigations into the circumstances and cause of Ms Leembruggen’s death are continuing.
Detectives are working to establish her movements in the days before her body was found. They want to hear from anyone who may have seen her between September 11 and September 15, or who has information that could help the investigation.
Police believe Ms Leembruggen was last seen at a hair salon on Celeber Drive in Andergrove at about 8.55am on September 11.
She is described as Caucasian, approximately 178cm tall, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white top, bright red trousers and a red bow in her hair.
Police have released these details to help potential witnesses recognise her and provide information about where she may have been during that period.
The cause of her death remains under investigation.
