A school bus carrying 18 students has burst into flames on the Stuart Highway near Adelaide River in the Northern Territory. All students were able to get off the bus safely and no injuries have been reported.
The incident happened at about 3pm on Monday while the bus was travelling near Adelaide River, around 114 kilometres south of Darwin.
Northern Territory Police said all 18 students had exited the vehicle before the situation worsened.
Early investigations suggest a mechanical fault may have caused diesel fuel to ignite, sparking the fire.
No injuries reported
Emergency crews extinguished the blaze and the students were taken to Adelaide River following the incident.
They were later transferred to a replacement bus and continued their journey to Katherine.
Police have confirmed that no students were injured.
The cause of the fire is still being examined, although a mechanical problem remains the leading explanation at this stage.
