Jannik Sinner has conquered the Miami Open, completing a historic “Sunshine Double” without dropping a single set and confirming his rise as one of the dominant forces in world tennis.

To achieve the Sunshine Double, a player must also win the Indian Wells Masters in the same season—one of the rarest feats in the sport. Sinner not only achieved it, but did so in unprecedented fashion, becoming the first player ever to win both tournaments without conceding a set across 17 matches.

In the Miami final, Sinner defeated Jiří Lehečka in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in a match that lasted one hour and 33 minutes and was briefly interrupted by rain at the Hard Rock Stadium. The Italian showcased relentless precision, firing 10 aces and displaying remarkable composure during key moments. His baseline solidity and improved serve proved decisive, as he saved all three break points he faced.

Described as a “machine” by Italian media, Sinner controlled the match from start to finish. Despite converting only two of eleven break points, he consistently pressured his opponent, winning 72 points to Lehecka’s 60. The Czech player fought hard, attempting to dictate rallies, but the gap in consistency and execution was evident throughout.

Sinner’s coaching team, led by Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill, watched from courtside as their player delivered yet another commanding performance. The victory follows his triumph at Indian Wells, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev in the final.

This achievement places Sinner alongside legends such as Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, the last man to complete the Sunshine Double in 2017. Djokovic remains the record holder with four titles.

After recent criticism following losses at the Australian Open and in Qatar against Jakub Menšík, Sinner has emphatically silenced doubts. With the clay season approaching, expectations are now soaring as he closes the gap in the ATP rankings and targets a return to world number one.

The triumph also resonated beyond tennis, as Sinner dedicated the moment to fellow Italian athletes, including rising Formula 1 talent Kimi Antonelli, highlighting a wave of national sporting success. His consistency on serve—winning 94% of service games this season—underlines his evolution into a complete player.

If this level continues, Sinner could define the season and firmly establish himself as the man to beat on every surface.
