Two people have been confirmed dead after a light aircraft crashed and burst into flames south of Brisbane on Monday morning. The plane had taken off from Archerfield Airport shortly before the crash at Stockleigh, in Logan. Police say the victims’ families are still being contacted and a crime scene is expected to remain in place until Tuesday.

Queensland Police confirmed the fatalities on Monday afternoon, several hours after the aircraft came down near Musch Road at Stockleigh, in the Logan area, close to residential properties.
The plane is believed to have crashed at about 11.10am.
Plane had just left Archerfield Airport
According to the latest information, the aircraft departed Archerfield Airport at around 11am and crashed less than 10 minutes later.
The circumstances that caused the aircraft to come down have not yet been established.
Emergency crews were called to the scene after the crash sparked a large fire.
At least eight fire trucks attended and worked to extinguish the blaze and secure the area.
Two deaths confirmed
Police initially said the number of people on board and their conditions were unknown.
Authorities have now confirmed that two people were killed.
Their identities have not yet been released, with police saying family members are still being contacted.
No further information has been provided at this stage about whether anyone else was on board.
Crash site to remain secured
