Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to return to the United Kingdom with their children, Archie and Lilibet. According to British media reports and the BBC, the family is expected to leave the United States this month and move into a private, non-royal residence outside London.
The news was first reported by British media and has since been supported by a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, although their official spokespeople have not yet commented publicly.
According to the reports, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, are also expected to relocate with their parents and begin attending a British school in September.
King Charles reportedly informed
The BBC reported that King Charles III was told about the move on Sunday.
The possible return comes only weeks after Harry, Meghan and their children met with the King in July, in what Buckingham Palace described as a “private family occasion.”
That meeting was widely seen as a possible sign of improving relations after years of tension between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.
For Archie and Lilibet, it was their first visit to the UK in four years.
Harry and Meghan had not previously been in Britain together since 2022, when they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.
No return to royal duties expected
It has now been six years since the couple stepped back from their roles as senior working members of the Royal Family and moved to the United States.
At this stage, there are no public plans for Harry or Meghan to resume official royal duties.
The reported move therefore appears to be a private family relocation rather than a return to royal life.
The news also comes as King Charles continues treatment for the undisclosed form of cancer publicly announced in February 2024.
This is a developing story, with further details expected in the coming hours.
