Fairfield City Strengthens Support for Small Businesses

Fairfield City is reinforcing its commitment to small businesses, recognising their crucial role in creating jobs, driving innovation, and strengthening the local community.

With around 90 per cent of the City’s 18,000 businesses classified as small enterprises, the sector plays a vital role in the local economy, collectively supporting more than 69,000 jobs across the region.

Mayor Frank Carbone described small businesses as “the heartbeat of our community.”

“They create jobs, bring people together, and help drive innovation. We are committed to giving them the tools and resources they need to succeed and grow,” he said.

Fairfield City HQ: A Hub for Entrepreneurs

One of Council’s flagship initiatives is Fairfield City HQ, a dedicated business hub providing co-working spaces, technology-enabled meeting rooms, creative recording studios, and tailored mentoring programs.

Designed for start-ups, emerging entrepreneurs, and established businesses, the hub offers opportunities to collaborate, network, and develop new ideas in a supportive environment.

Local business owners are encouraged to take advantage of the resources and services available through Fairfield City Business, which continues to expand its support for the local business community.

Celebrating Local Business Excellence

Council also continues to recognise and promote outstanding local enterprises through the Fairfield City Local Business Awards.

Finalists and winners receive valuable public recognition, helping them raise their profile, attract new customers, and grow their businesses.

Nominations are currently open, and residents are encouraged to support their favourite local businesses by participating in the voting process.

Spotlight on the Canleys Special Entertainment Precincts

This year, Council is also highlighting the Canleys Special Entertainment Precincts, vibrant cultural and entertainment hubs located in Canley Heights and Canley Vale.

The precincts support extended trading hours, live music, and a thriving night-time economy, helping revitalise local streets, create jobs, and generate new opportunities for businesses.

“These precincts are transforming our City after dark,” Mayor Carbone said. “They attract visitors, support local jobs, and give our community more reasons to enjoy Fairfield’s vibrant precincts.”

Building a Stronger Local Economy

By combining practical business support with cultural and entertainment initiatives, Fairfield City is fostering a dynamic local economy while enhancing residents’ quality of life.

Council’s strategy blends training, mentoring, collaborative workspaces, and business development programs with public recognition and community engagement.

“Supporting small businesses is about more than economics,” Mayor Carbone said. “It’s about building a community where businesses flourish, families enjoy lively precincts, and Fairfield remains a great place to live, work, and invest.”

With ongoing Council support, Fairfield City aims to continue growing as a hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, and culture, creating opportunities for businesses, energising local streets, and strengthening the community for years to come.
