Undersecretary Massimo Dell’Utri’s official visit to Australia concluded in Canberra, where he met with Australian representatives and members of the Italian community at the Residenza d’Italia, within the Italian Embassy.
“The Government is here and wishes to maintain close ties with you.” This was the central message delivered throughout his journey from Melbourne to Sydney and Canberra, reinforcing Rome’s commitment to its citizens abroad and economic interests overseas. During his engagements, Dell’Utri praised the dedication and professionalism of Italian diplomats serving in Australia, acknowledging their essential role in strengthening bilateral relations and maintaining close connections with the Italian community.
Consular services featured prominently in discussions, with particular attention to improving accessibility, efficiency and responsiveness to the needs of Italian citizens living abroad.
Economic cooperation was another major focus, with Dell’Utri highlighting the importance of supporting Italian companies investing and operating in Australia, encouraging stronger commercial partnerships and across strategic industries. His visit also recognised the contribution of Italian community organisations, whose activities continue to promote the country’s language, culture and heritage.
The visit offered reassurance that the priorities of Italians in Australia remain on Rome’s agenda, particularly the quality of consular services, institutional representation and opportunities for closer economic and strategic cooperation.
